Change data capture (CDC) is designed to capture insert, update, and delete activity applied to SQL Server tables, and to make the details of the changes available in an easily consumed relational format. The change tables used by CDC contain columns that mirror the column structure of a tracked source table, along with the metadata needed to understand the changes that have occurred. In this lab you will perform the necessary steps to enable data capture in a database.
A labcast is a blend of webcast and virtual lab in which we provide a guided, hands-on learning environment. Watch and listen as we demonstrate different tasks using Microsoft Office Live Meeting, then we switch to a TechNet Virtual Lab where you can try it first-hand. Experts are standing by to answer any questions you may have along the way.
Prerequisites:
• Install the ActiveX (http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=5152906 control). The Microsoft "Virtual Machine Remote Control" ActiveX control is required to start the virtual lab. Please have it installed prior to attending the labcast.
• Review system requirements (http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=5152909). These system settings are required to run the labs successfully.
