In this high level overview, attendees will learn what the Windows Azure platform AppFabric and what it offers Microsoft’s cloud customers.

This session is designed to introduce the Windows Azure platform AppFabric from a developer’s point of view. Through a series of coding examples attendees will see how to take a simple WCF client/service application, expose it on the Internet using the AppFabric Service Bus and then secure it using the Access Control Service.

The Service Bus is one of the two main components of the Windows Azure platform AppFabric. In this demonstration-heavy session, attendees will see multiple ways in which the Service Bus can be leveraged to provide connectivity solutions for cloud-aware and cloud-based applications.

The Access Control Service is one of the two main components of the Windows Azure platform AppFabric. In this demonstration-heavy session, attendees will examine the setup and code required to leverage the Access Control Service from an ASP.NET application.

The purpose of this Quickstart Guide is to show PHP developers how to work with Windows Azure. It shows how to develop and test PHP code on a local development machine, and then how to deploy that code to Windows Azure. This material is intended for developers who are already using PHP with an IDE such as Eclipse, so it doesn't cover PHP syntax or details of working with Eclipse, but experienced PHP programmers will see that it is easy to set up Eclipse to work with Windows Azure to support web-based PHP applications.

This lab is designed for developers who work with PHP and who would like to be able to run PHP applications on the Microsoft Windows Azure platform. This lab will walk you through how to test a PHP application locally in a Windows Azure simulation environment, and then deploy and run it in the cloud. It will also show you how to work with Microsoft SQL Azure, which is a version of Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft's relational database, that's been specifically designed to run in the cloud. The AppFabric is part of the Windows Azure Platform that helps you connect applications and services in the cloud or on-premises. The AppFabric includes two parts: Access Control Service, which gives you federated authorization, and a Service Bus for connectivity across network and organizational boundaries.

This lab is a hands-on introduction to using the Access Control Service. Another video in this series will introduce you to the Service Bus in the same way.
